The Prophet PBUH said, |
Sa'ud ash-Shuraim is one of the Imams and khateeb of the Masjid al-Haram. Due to his position, rank, and love among Muslims, his voice has been widely recorded and is internationally distributed by various mediums. Shuraim is most famously and notably known among Muslims for leading the Taraweeh prayers during Ramadan in Makkah since 1991, and for his deep voice and smooth Quranic recitation style in accordance with the rules of tajweed. He holds is Ph.D and is a Professor of Sharia and Islamic studies at the Umm al-Qura University in Makkah, where recently he has been appointed as a Dean and "Specialist Professor in Fiqh". "The example of him (a believer) who recites the Qur'an is like that of a citron which tastes good and smells good. And he (a believer) who does not recite the Qur'an is like a date which is good in taste but has no smell. And the example of a dissolute wicked person who recites the Qur'an is like the Raihana (sweet basil) which smells good but tastes bitter. And the example of a dissolute wicked person who does not recite the Qur'an is like the colocynth which tastes bitter and has no smell. Narrated Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari: Bukhari |
