"The example of him (a believer) who recites the Qur'an is like that of a citron which tastes good and smells good.
And he (a believer) who does not recite the Qur'an is like a date which is good in taste but has no smell.
And the example of a dissolute wicked person who recites the Qur'an is like the Raihana (sweet basil) which smells good but tastes bitter.
And the example of a dissolute wicked person who does not recite the Qur'an is like the colocynth which tastes bitter and has no smell.
Narrated Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari: Bukhari
Hadith Qudsi
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:
" لَمَّا قَضَى اللَّهُ الْخَلْقَ، كَتَبَ فِي كِتَابِهِ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ، فَهُوَ مَوْضُوعٌ عِنْدَهُ:
إِنَّ رَحْمَتِي تَغْلِبُ غَضَبِي"
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah who said that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said:
When Allah decreed the Creation He pledged Himself by writing in His book which is laid down with Him:
My mercy prevails over my wrath.
Quran 3:118
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا
لَا تَتَّخِذُوا بِطَانَةً مِنْ دُونِكُمْ
لَا يَأْلُونَكُمْ خَبَالًا وَدُّوا مَا عَنِتُّمْ قَدْ بَدَتِ الْبَغْضَاءُ مِنْ أَفْوَاهِهِمْ
وَمَا تُخْفِي صُدُورُهُمْ أَكْبَرُ ۚ
قَدْ بَيَّنَّا لَكُمُ الْآيَاتِ ۖ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
O ye who believe!
take not into your intimacy those outside your ranks;
they will not fail to corrupt you.
They only desire your ruin: rank hatred has already appeared from their mouths;
what their hearts conceal is far worse.
We have made plain to you the Signs, if ye have wisdom.
Q 3:118
Quran 5:57
لَا تَتَّخِذُوا الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا دِينَكُمْ هُزُوًا وَلَعِبًا مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ وَالْكُفَّارَ أَوْلِيَاءَ ۚ
وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ
take not for friends and protectors those who take your religion for a mockery or sport, whether among those who received the Scripture before you, or among those who reject Faith;
but fear ye Allah, if ye have Faith (indeed).

Hadith
Islam is based on (the following) five (principles):
- To testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is Allah's Apostle.
- To offer the (compulsory congregational) prayers dutifully and perfectly.
- To pay Zakat (i.e. obligatory charity) .
- To perform Hajj. (i.e. Pilgrimage to Mecca)
- To observe fast during the month of Ramadan.
